You may recall that even though I had set the folder view in File Explorer to show hidden files, the file list under "user" went from 3D Objects to Contacts, with no AppData in between. Can't find my .minecraft folder in Windows 10 - Arqade As an alternative, search Windows (using Windows Search, Cortana, or a program like Everything, which is a lot faster) for the file realms_persistence.json (or other files that are unique to Minecraft). This file, as part of Minecraft, can be found in the folder you're looking for, even if for some reason the .minecraft folder's name got changed, or if it's no longer in C:\Users\*user*\AppData User-AppData not showing in recovery folder tree | Acronis

The folder does not show in the Recovery file folder tree so it's not easy to restore. I did discover that I could search for specific files in that directory and restore them individually, but without the ability to restore the entire folder, the backup of this data is not usable.
